Santee Street Fair & Craft Beer Festival draws thousands over Memorial Day weekend
Mexican gourmet hot dogs, booths, dancing, entertainment and more food selections; such were the offerings at the 8th annual Santee Street Fair & Craft Beer Festival held on May 28. The main theme was honoring heroes for this Memorial Day tinged event held on the first day of many Americans’ three day holiday.

Doggos Gus Catering Receives Grant
Doggos Gus’ owner Gustavo Tonella is a believer in giving things a try.About a month ago he applied for a $25,0000 grant made available through the California Restaurant Foundation who partnered with Chef and TV host Guy Fieri of “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.” Tonella found out about the possibility of a grant from the California Restaurant Foundation. Although the timing was not perfect, he was a little past the deadline, Tonella decided to apply anyway. Tonella spoke to the foundation’s representative.

Two San Diego small restaurant owners received $25,000 grants last week from chef and TV host Guy Fieri, during Fieri’s online June 12 special “Guy’s Restaurant Reboot by LendingTree.” The livestreamed show was created to help restaurateurs get back on their feet following the pandemic. Fieri raised $300,000 in grants from donors like LendingTree and Twisted Tea.

The celebrity chef announced the grants Saturday. Six other individuals were awarded scholarships totaling $175,000. Five operators of independent restaurants in California were surprised with $25,000 grants on Saturday through a collaboration between celebrity chef Guy Fieri and the California Restaurant Association’s charity arm, the California Restaurant Foundation (CRF).
